Located at 6205 15th Cavalry, Outdoor
Recreation provides rental equipment, discounted ski tickets
and base fishing permits, paintball, an Outdoor Adventure
Program (OAP), two base pavilions - one at Fam Camp and on
Lake Pearson (can be used year round), an outdoor gazebo, a
secured and unsecured recreational vehicle storage area, as
well as a 125 site FAMCAMP facility with 40 full hook-ups of
50 amps.
Equipment rentals include hundreds of items for your use
from fishing boats, canoes, kayaks, campers, super cookers,
tents, fishing rods, mountain bikes, metal detectors to high
performance snow skis, snowboards, snowblades and two new
jump houses. Equipment can be rented by the day, weekend or
week at very reasonable prices.
Outdoor Recreation carries discounted ski lift tickets for
almost every ski area within a 300 mile range saving the
military skier 10 - 50% off resort prices. Season passes are
available for Keystone and Eldora Mountain resort at
excellent rates for military ID card holders and their
dependents.
The Outdoor Adventure Program conducts regularly scheduled
and custom trips to some of the world’s finest ski resorts.
They’ll take you on whitewater rafting adventures, and to
premier biking, hiking, camping and fishing destinations. If
there is a trip you want to do just let them know.
Fishing on base requires a base permit which is available at
Outdoor Recreation with three lakes available for fishing.
Centennial Lake, located by the front gate, is stocked with
Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gill and Crappies and is catch and
release only. North and South Pearson Lakes are located at
the end of Rogers Road. They are stocked with various kinds
of trout, catfish and have a four trout and six catfish fish
per day creel limit. Fishing in Crow Creek requires a
Wyoming Fishing License as well as a base permit. The base
lakes are regularly stocked by the state of Wyoming.
FAMCAMP is located on base along Crow Creek with the peak
season mid-May through Labor Day. Reservations can be made
30 days in advance by calling 773-3874. A hospitality center
houses the camp office, handicap accessible restrooms,
laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi. FAMCAMP offers 40 full hookup
sites (50 amp), 10 tent sites and 75 overflow sites.

Outdoor Adventures
Vedauwoo Mountain Biking Trek – May 10
Join us when ODR takes to the trails of the Medicine Bow
Recreation Area. This 5-15 mile ride will be geared for the
beginner to the advanced rider. Bring your own bike or rent
one of ours. Trip is $10. Departs ODR at 10 a.m. and returns
approximately 3 p.m.Intro to Climbing – May 15 & 17
Designed for the beginning climber seeking the basics to the
more experienced climber looking to review and practice
climbing skills. Day one will be held at the Aquatic Center
from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and will cover the principles of
climbing including but not limited to: different disciplines
(sport, trade, ice, etc), differences in top rope and lead,
basic gear overview, single and multi pitch differences,
styles (slab, crack, dihedrals, etc.), getting down
(rappelling, lowering off, down climbing, etc), grading
systems for climbs and leave-no-trace etiquette. Day two
will take us to the Vedauwoo Recreation area, where we’ll
put our newly acquired skills to use. We depart ODR at 10
a.m. and return approximately 5 p.m. All climbing gear
included. Cost is $15. Class size is limited.
MFM Memorial Day Weekend - Whitewater Rafting – May 25
Record mountain snows this past winter + warm spring weather
= Big Water and Big Adventure! We’ve reserved our seats on
the Cache La Poudre so that you can be sure to have a piece
of the adventure. Expect to get wet in Class III and IV
water on this full day trip. Trip is a paddle trip which
means you’ll be assisting your highly trained guide as you
maneuver through big waves and avoid big rocks! Trip
includes round-trip transportation, full day on the water,
wetsuit, splash jacket, helmet and a shore lunch mid-trip.
Minimum age is 16 and is not recommended for the first time
rafter. Early sign-up required NLT May 15. Cost is $105.
Hunter’s Safety Course – June 6 and 7
A traditional hunter’s safety course will be offered at
Outdoor Recreation and is available to all military, DoD and
their family members. This 12-hour course will be held
Friday from 5 - 9 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. The
course consists of six required areas, including hunter
responsibility & ethics; wildlife conservation management;
firearms & firearm safety; Game & Fish statues and
regulations; game care and wildlife identification; and
survival and first aid. Anyone born after on or January 1,
1966 is required to complete a hunter’s safety course in
order to apply for a Wyoming hunting permit. Students should
be at least 12 years of age. Class size is limited and early
sign-up is encouraged. There is a $5 fee.
Sierra Madre Hike – May 31
This full day hike will take us into the Huston Park
Wilderness near the rural towns of Encampment and Saratoga
in south central Wyoming. The Baby Lake Trail is rated
moderate to difficult and is approximately 10 miles
round-trip with elevation gains to just over 10,000 feet and
home to the second largest elk herd in the state. You will
traverse along timbered trails and summit the trail in a
meadow area expanding above the Continental Divide. Trip
departs ODR 6 a.m. and returns approximately 7 p.m. Cost is
$25.
Paintball
The new paintball field is undergoing a transformation and
is now available for rent. We will also be offering open
play beginning May 1 on Tuesdays, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. and
Thursdays, 9 a.m. - noon. Sign-up 24 hours prior of play.
Open play may be cancelled or rescheduled for lack of
participants and/or adverse or dangerous weather conditions.

Base
Fishing Permits
Base fishing permits are available at Outdoor Recreation and sold on a
calendar year basis. Annual permit fees, beginning 1 January 2006, are:
Adult $10.50
Youth (14-17) $ 7.50
Senior (60+) $ 7.50
DAV (30%+) $ 7.50
Temporary (5 days) $ 6.50
Duplicate $ 3.50
Youth age 13 and younger are free and must be accompanied by an adult with a
permit. Creel limit is 6 catfish and 6 trout per day.
Some areas of Crow Creek require both a base license and a
Wyoming State fishing license. |

Base Lakes
Pavilion
The Base Lakes Pavilion, located near South Lake Pearson,
has been renovated, enclosed, and heated for year-round use.
Reservations may be made at any time, based on availability.
A 48-hour cancellation policy applies. Rental fee is $40 per use. More information is
